I'm now back home in Bristol after a very relaxing week in Mallorca! It's always such a joy to take a proper break with my husband and little boy. We had a joyous week of laughing, lounging, swimming, reading, drawing and eating. Mallorca is an extremely popular tourist destination with a lot of package holiday resorts, but don't let that put you off, it doesn't have to be that kind of holiday. The landscape is so totally natural, breathtaking and untouched. We stayed near Pollenca which is a traditional, little Mallorcan town situated on the north of the island. With its cobbled, narrow streets, pretty town square, bakeries and artisan shops it was all really quite charming and romantic...

My little boy attempts to count the 365 Calvari steps in Pollenca!

The Mediterranean heat is a little too toasty for me but I was fully covered in SPF50

Holiday sketching and painting.

My little man is such a great little artist. These are his sketches of  Wasp Man inspired by
a mammoth wasp we saved from our swimming pool.

A former Roman theatre now a restaurant in Port d' Alcudia (that ceiling was stunning!) Stunning views at Cap de Formentor and a pretty pink sky.

Shady walks at the nature reserve...

Among several holiday reads, I read a rather old biography of Merle Oberon. I remember borrowing this book from the library in about 1989! I found a copy in a charity shop a few weeks ago and thought I'd re read it. I'm not sure if I would have particularly warmed to Merle as a person but her story is quite, quite fascinating. On my return home she has inspired my next little character, I will post more on that next week.

Hope that everyone is enjoying their Summer so far! xx
